The Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Programme (HCP) is the GAA’s flagship programme to promote health and wellbeing in Ireland outside of its official game’s structures. It aims to support GAA clubs and communities to achieve locally defined health and wellbeing goals. The Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Programme operates off a two-year cycle. Clubs have 18 months to complete the required criteria and achieve Healthy Club status. Once this status has been obtained, clubs may choose to advance further by completing additional steps to attain Silver and Gold status. Each club can use its willingness, capacity, and resources to determine whether progressing to these higher levels is feasible within the 18-month cycle.
Clubs are invited to submit expressions of interest to join the Irish Life GAA Healthy Club programme. The next phase of the programme will see new clubs commence their journey in March 2026.
To apply to join the Irish Life GAA Healthy clubs programme, clubs must fill out an expression of interest form at https://healthyclubs.gaa.ie/. Clubs will be then required to complete the subsequent application form, which requires club secretary sign off (an official GAA email address is required). Applications will close on January 12th; therefore, all applications must be complete and submitted by this 5pm on this date.
The Healthy Clubs Application Timeline is as follows.
- Application Phase: 22nd November 2025 – 12th January 2026
- Club Notification: Week Commencing 29th January 2026
- Healthy Club Officer Training (online): 24th February 2026
- Orientation Day for New Clubs: Sat March 7th, 2026, in Croke Park
***Please note this is only for clubs NOT registered in the Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs programme currently, current clubs do not need to reapply.
