Leinster’s wheelchair hurlers will roll into SETU Carlow this Saturday for the M. Donnelly All-Ireland Finals, aiming to turn a promising league campaign into national glory. The competition will be played in the usual blitz format, with each match lasting just twelve minutes a side, meaning there is no margin for slow starts.
Leinster showed plenty during the league stages earlier this year. There were good wins, flashes of attacking sharpness, and a defensive steel that at times frustrated opponents. But there were also lessons — matches where chances weren’t taken, or where momentum slipped away late on. Those experiences will need to be banked now, because every mistake at All-Ireland level is magnified.
If Leinster are to get over the line, their old guard and new faces alike will have to raise their game. In goal, Sean Bennett remains the bedrock. The veteran has been here many times before, and his calmness and shot-stopping ability will be as important as ever. Further forward, young Cormac Nolan brings energy and a fearlessness that can unsettle even the tightest defence, while Alex Hennebry has the scoring touch to make the difference in tight contests. Finding a way to blend that mixture of experience and youth will be key to giving Leinster a shot at the title.
