Double U16 Delight At Poc Fada Finals

It was a memorable day for Leinster at the M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada finals, as Westmeath’s Conor Raleigh and Offaly’s Siofra Ginty captured national honours in the U-16 competitions.

Competing on the iconic Cooley Mountains under challenging, gusty conditions, Raleigh showed tremendous accuracy and composure to narrowly edge out Galway’s Oran Stratford in the U-16 Hurling final.

Not to be outdone, Offaly’s Siofra Ginty delivered an outstanding performance in the U-16 Camogie event. Dominating the field, she claimed her title with two pucks to spare – a remarkable margin on a course that demands both skill and endurance.

In the senior men’s event, Limerick’s Colin Ryan regained the Poc Fada title, navigating the shortened course in just 25 pucks, with 60.7 metres added on. Leinster was well represented here too, with Offaly’s Cillian Kiely and Kilkenny’s Fionan Mackessy finishing second and third, both also taking 25 pucks but with shorter additional distances.

Cork’s Molly Lynch made history in the Senior Camogie Poc Fada, securing her fifth title in a row with a commanding performance that left her almost four pucks ahead of Down’s Sara Louise Graffin.
