July 7, 2019 was one of those splendid days for Laois hurling.
Following the Joe McDonagh Cup success, Eddie Brennan’s charges were armed with confidence and momentum.
Dublin, though, were still expected to survive in Portlaoise, but Laois refused to follow that particular script.
Ultimately a sultry afternoon culminated with Laois supporters furiously celebrating a daring and dramatic win.
Now 15 months later Laois want to supply a reminder about their potential against Dublin.
Mattie Kenny has subsequently spoken about that harrowing loss so Dublin will certainly be primed for Saturday’s encounter.
The Dublin Club Championship illustrated the depth of talent available within the capital, and Kenny has stitched a solid panel together.
Having impressed in the Leinster Round Robin in 2019, Dublin’s lapses in concentration were exposed and punished by Laois.
This promises to be another interesting tussle.
